As part of the need to create a social conscience, students are encouraged to engage in projects that develop their organizing skills while enabling the local population to benefit from these programmes. These programs represent the social initiatives of an environmentally aware group of professional learners. These projects have taken several forms.

 Primary among this is the Socio Economic Survey of the Karumalloor Panchayath, where the Institute is located. It was done to identify the demographics and socially relevant indices of the population .

A free eyesight testing Camp was organized in association with Little Flower Hospital Angamaly.

 A Legal clinic where the public could clear their enquiries about cases pending in the courts and their legal status was also conducted.

Training in soap and detergent manufacture was imparted to womens Self Help Groups of the panchayath within the  SNGIST campus.

All these projects have been conceived and organized by the students themselves.
