COMMENCEMENT OF CLASSES

Commencement of classes will be in accordance with MG University Calendar. There will be orientation classes before the commencement of classes as per syllabus and the date of orientation will be published in the college notice board.

REMEDIAL COURSE

An online test will be conducted for the newly admitted  students and the student who score below the prescribed minimum will have to undergo a remedial course.

ROPE IN PROGRAMME

There will be a fully residential rope in programme for all the students admitted in a new batch, so as to mould them into SNGIST culture.

ADD ON PROGRAMMES

The College offers add on programs taking into account  in today’s context. The approximate cenhancing the employability of the studentsosts indicated are estimated based on the cost of certification, training and connected events which are to be borne by the students depending on their option of specialization.

PLACEMENT ACTIVITIES

SNGIST’s unique teaching methodology makes students more competent . It will assist graduating students in securing positions in reputed national and multinational companies. INTERNAL ASSESSMENT

1) As per the university stipulations, a maximum of 40% of the total marks in every subject is allotted for internal evaluation. Internal evaluation is a continuous process throughout the semester to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the students.

2)Students have to have a minimum of 75% attendance and those who fail to comply with this requirement will not be permitted to appear for the University examinations.

3) The faculty will give assignments on various topics. The students are expected to read the relevant materials, collect maximum information and write the script in their own words (concerned faculty will give details)

4) Presentations are generally being done with the help of audio-visual equipments. The slides are to be prepared neatly.

5) Quizzes, Case analysis, discussions, short examinations etc may be conducted on any day at short notice.

6) The Institute attaches utmost importance to strict integrity and honesty in academic work. The students must maintain strict discipline in class rooms, examinations, tests, quizzes, take home assignments and all other segments of academic work. Following are some of the examples of academic indiscipline.

  • Resorting to copying or helping to copy in any manner or form in examinations or quizzes or assignments or other elements of evaluation.
  • Reproducing passages from written works of students including materials from websites without necessary acknowledgements.
  • Passing or receiving papers in connection with any academic work to be evaluated
  • Canvassing the faculty members for Marks and Grades.
  • Marking proxy attendance for others or having attendance marked by others.
  • Excessive absence from classes ( in general, more than 10% classes or such percentage as may be decided by the faculty concerned)

7) The respective course faculty will continuously assess the performance of students in each course. The awarding of internal assessment marks will be done by the concerned faculty after giving due weight to the following factors.

  • Attendance and class participation
  • Internal tests / Model examination
  • Assignments / Presentation / Discussions
  • Class Participation / Behaviour sophistication / academic involvement / other activities
  • Project work, test paper, Seminar, Practical Test, Viva-voce, Quiz.

LEARNING SYSTEM

In PG programmes, the learning system in this institute is based on assignments, presentations, case studies, class tests  and mini projects. The lecture classes will be only supportive. The participants are expected to do the studying themselves based on the curriculum plan and should not depend on classroom sessions alone. The students have, therefore, to take lot of initiative to meet the objectives of the course.

PLACEMENT CELL

There is an active placement cell functioning in the college under the guidance of a full time placement officer supported by a placement committee. The effectiveness of the placement cell is evidenced by the fact that more than 75% of the out-going batch of students was placed  during the last semester itself. Placement cell of SNGIST is looking after the Placement, Training and Industry related activities.  The division will facilitate the process of interface with the industry.

STUDENT COUNSELING AND MENTORING

Upon arrival, all new students shall be assigned to a faculty, who will be designated as a student owner, who will provide counseling and advisory services.. The student owner will be assigned the responsibility of developing about 10-12 students in academic as well as for the corporate world. The student ownership groups shall meet on a regular basis and these sessions shall train the students in building skills and competencies. Ultimately this is to bring about a value addition making all the students thoroughly professional and employable.

YOGA AND MEDITATION

Healthy body and a healthy mind contribute towards an individual’s personal as well as professional success.  SNGIST desires that its students do excel not only in their career, but also in their personal life.

COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS / GUARDIANS

Normally the institute communicates the performance and attendance of the students to the parents every month through progress reports. Therefore, parents are advised to periodically contact the students’ counselor and enquire about the performance of their wards.

Circulars/Notice Boards/Email

SNGIST Notice boards display notices on institution’s news, activities and other matters of interest.

Circulars are issued regularly to update the students on latest developments, presentations and about the visiting faculty.

Students will be provided with an SNGIST E-mail ID (Web mail) for official purpose during their tenure at SNGIST.  Students are required to access it regularly as the authorities may send the official notices via e-mail.

PASSING OUT CEREMONY

The annual passing out ceremony is held at the end of the last semester to distribute the course completion certificates and the academic awards.

AWARD OF DEGREE

The students, at the end of each semester have to appear in the University Examinations conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi University and the degree will be awarded by the University to the students who come out successful. Minimum marks required for passing the University examinations is 50%. In order to appear for the University examinations, students have to remit the exam fee before the stipulated date. The schedule of the payment of the exam fee, the last date for remittance and exam time table etc will be exhibited on the notice board as and when it is received from the University.
